Well Cadillac has really stepped it up with their CTS-V; this car has proven to be a serious Mile contender. We had a total of 14 Cadillac's at the event. Congrats to Mark Marquardt for dominating the CTS-V group with his run of 199.2MPH beating Joey Tamburin's fastest speed from March 2013 which was 196.2MPH.

  • THE STUDEBAKERS, A STORY ABOUT FAMILY: Terry Dreibelbis, Tracy Mangold, and Linda Sangurima are the daughters of Jim Best who was a long time participant of The Texas Mile at Goliad. In March of 2009 Jim achieved his top speed of 152.673MPH before the engine blew in his bright yellow Studebaker. He put a new engine in the car but was never able to run his car again due to his passing in 2010. In his honor his daughters created the B.E.S.T. team which stands for the Bitchin Extreme Speed Team. These three ladies have caught the bug, just like their dad did so many years ago, and can't wait to be back at the next event. I think they are making Jim proud and I look forward to seeing that Studebaker at every Texas Mile event to come. Congrats to Linda who achieved the team's top speed of 138.3MPH!
  • FASTEST CHALLENGER: We had a total of 8 Challengers check in to the event. This group is really growing and the competition is fierce. Congrats to Adam Montague who achieved the top speed of the group at 202.3MPH and congrats to Roy Hollon who was a close 2nd at 195.4MPH.
  • DAN'S STORY ABOUT "Bouncing off Guardrails": We've got a writer in our midst. New participant Dan Dekruif published the story of his life after he wrote about his amazing journey surviving open heart surgery in 2008. Dan was only 34 when he went in for his operation. Bouncing off Guardrails is Dan's story about how his life changed after surgery. Dan is living each day to its fullest which is part of the reason why he came to the Mile. Congrats to Dan for achieving his top speed of 167.2MPH on his 2010 BMW S 1000 RR.
